Cheap Rabbit Hutches

Looking for cheap rabbit hutches? Then welcome to CheapRabbitHutches.net - a top resource for low priced rabbit cages.

From our experience, rabbit owners generally keep their rabbits inside the home so that they can interact with the rabbits more and also protect them from whatever dangers might be lurking outside. So it makes the most sense to make sure you select the perfect cage for your rabbit's maximum enjoyment. And if you can get that perfect cage at the best price, then you have the best of both worlds. :)

A few questions you might be wondering about before purchasing a rabbit cage might be: "How large should the cage for my rabbit be?", "What cage design and materials have the most durability for my rabbit?", and (assuming you have 2 or more rabbits) "Can more than one rabbit fit into a cage?"

What Size Rabbit hutch should I buy?

If your rabbit will be spending most time in the cage (usually the case), then the more room you can provide, the better. Generally speaking, when deciding on the right size cage, select a cage that is about 4 times the size of your rabbit.

If we look at specifics, dwarf rabbit breeds which weigh less than 3-1/2 pounds, they need at least 2-1/2 sq ft of cage space. This will allow them to mature and not grow out of their cage forcing you to buy another one.

Small rabbit breeds that weigh between two and a half to five lbs will need up to three and a half sq ft of cage space.

Medium size breeds weighing in at 4-1/2 to 7 pounds can require up to 5 sq ft of cage space. And lastly, the giant breeds which can weigh up to 25 pounds need cage space of at least 11-12 sq ft. In addition, when purchasing a hutch for a large rabbit, look closely at the material that the cage is made of. Stronger cages are a must.

What About Cage Size if I Have More Than One Rabbit?

The cage sizes mentioned above apply only if you have one rabbit, so if you’re planning to add a companion for your pet rabbit, you may need to double the size of the cage you're thinking about purchasing.

And if you don’t have the space requirements needed for your particular size rabbit, then get a multi-level cage. A multi-level rabbit cage is great for dwarf, small, most medium sized rabbits, if you have more than one rabbit, or maybe you simply want the extra play space for your rabbit.

What About Cage Heights?

When looking at rabbit cages, take the cage height into consideration. Your rabbit's cage needs to be tall enough for your rabbit to sit upright or stand without their ears touching the roof of the cage. Cages of at least eighteen inches in height are needed for the smaller breeds while medium to large rabbits do demand a taller cage. 30" inches or higher is good. The multi-level cages available nowadays is also a good choice for medium, large, or multiple rabbits.

How Important are Cage Doors?

Always check that the door on any rabbit cage you're thinking about buying is large enough for your rabbit to go in and out of easily. And if you are going to be using a litter tray, this should also be able to fit through the main door. Side doors are good because they allow your rabbit to come and go in and out of their cage the easiest as well as provide you easy access for daily maintenance and to exchange food/water bowls.

Just got it today. My rabbit can stand on his hind legs in this cage. He likes hiding under the shelf. I took out the wavy ramp-it saves a lot of space in the cage and he's big enough to not need it.
